box[ur]shorts™ Film Festival is back at the New Beverly Cinema on January 9, 2010 to celebrate its 4th annual Awards Night. After flipping the competition upside down, box[ ur]shorts will keep the audience on its toes again this year with a new festival format. The awards ceremony will give fans a first-look at what is to come in 2010.  For the first time, the winning films will be announced at the awards show. And, afterwards, they will be screened throughout the year in all movie jukebox locations and online. Filmmakers and cineastes can also look forward to complimentary drinks and more Swiss chocolate...

Doors to the Los Angeles film festival celebration open at 7:30pm. Following a countdown screening, the top three winners in this year’s contest will be commemorated with the coveted box[ur]shorts™ trophies, in addition to the best student film award. The lucky winners will get over $7,000 worth of prizes sponsored by Showbiz Software, Avid, Fuji Film and the Write Brothers, to name a few.

The Finalist films will be announced prior to the screening in the beginning of January. They were selected by a panel of judges that included industry professionals like Japanese writer/director Shunji Iwai, SONY executive Stacey Kalish, film critic Erik Childress and last year's Audience Choice Award-winner Michael DelVecchio. Two audience groups from Switzerland and Indonesia looked at the short from the moviegoer's point of view. A sneak preview of the upcoming competition is available on our youtube site.

MovieMaker Magazine recently named box[ur]shorts™ in its top 20 listing of festivals for first-time filmmakers. "The festival has organically grown year to year among cinema enthusiasts, film students and the industry at large. As evidenced from the caliber of our Hollywood professional judges to our increased number of entrants, we’re continuously growing and improving the festival to meet the demand. In 2010, box[ ur ]shorts fans can anticipate some exciting changes that will really take the festival to the next level – including a soon-to-be announced technology component that will change the way viewers worldwide view short films via our movie jukeboxes.”
