We’ve all been there -- nothing to do as you wait alone in a public place like a laundromat for the spin cycle to finish or for a friend who’s late meeting you at a bar.
Five years ago, two film enthusiasts, Giacun Caduff and Ryan Reichenfeld, created a solution with their idea to make a network of movie jukeboxes that incorporate short films into viewers’ everyday experience. The idea turned out to have merit and has evolved into a full-fledged international festival -- box[ur]shorts. The festival will celebrate its fourth annual awards night this Saturday.
box[ur]shorts festival director Caduff -- a Switzerland native and graduate of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television’s MFA Producers Program -- was inspired as a producer to establish a direct connection between filmmakers and their viewers by screening at places where people have a chance to watch a quick five- or 10-minute film.
We’ve all been there -- nothing to do as you wait alone in a public place like a laundromat for the spin cycle to finish or for a friend who’s late meeting you at a bar.

box[ur]shorts™ Film Festival is back at the New Beverly Cinema on January 9, 2010 to celebrate its 4th annual Awards Night. After flipping the competition upside down, box[ ur]shorts will keep the audience on its toes again this year with a new festival format. The awards ceremony will give fans a first-look at what is to come in 2010.  For the first time, the winning films will be announced at the awards show. And, afterwards, they will be screened throughout the year in all movie jukebox locations and online. Filmmakers and cineastes can also look forward to complimentary drinks and more Swiss chocolate...

box[ur]shorts™ Film Festival is proud to name writer/director Shunji Iwai, Sony executive Stacey Kalish and film critic Erik Childress among the judges for the upcoming 4th film festival competition. The jury panel also includes Michael DelVecchio, last year's winner of the box[ur]shorts™ Audience Choice Award, and two audience groups from Switzerland and Indonesia.
